Specifically in cloudy weather when the light intensity is constantly changing, the ultra-fast MPPT controller will be able toincrease the energy absorption by up to 30% compared to PWM charge controllers and up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers.
Burdening
Hazardous discharge of the battery can be prevented by connecting all loads to the load output. The load output will switch the load after the battery has been discharged to a pre-set voltage (48V model: interface with a relay). Alternatively, an intelligent battery management algorithm can be selected: see battery life length Load output is short-circuit protected.
Battery Life: Intelligent Battery Management
When a solar charge controller cannot fully charge the battery during a day, the result is often that the battery constantly goes from "partially charged" to "discharged". This is operational (no regular full recharge) and can cause a lead-acid battery to run down in a few weeks or months.
The battery life algorithm will monitor the state of charge of the battery, and if necessary, day after day, it will adjust the load disconnection level (i.e. (i.e. disconnect the load earlier) until the energy absorption is sufficient to recharge the battery to almost 100%. From that point onwards, the load shedding level will be modulated so that almost 100% charge is achieved approximately once a week.

Extra external battery and temperature sensing via Bluetooth
A Smart Battery Sense or a BMV-712 Smart Battery Monitor can be used to communicate battery voltage and temperature to one or more SmartSolar charge controllers.
