Victron BlueSolar Monocrystalline Solar Panel 12volt 130W
Victron's panels have low tracking temperature coefficient that allows for high temperature operation. Exceptional low-light performance and high sensitivity to light across the entire solar spectrum. 25-year limited warranty on power output and performance. 5-year limited warranty on materials and workmanship. Watertight multifunctional junction box ensures a high level of safety. High performance bypass diodes minimize power reductions caused by shadow. Advanced EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) encapsulation system with three-layer rear material meets the most stringent safety requirements for high-power operation.A strong, anodized aluminum frame allows the modules to be easily mounted on roofs using a variety of fastening systems. Highest quality, tempered glass for high painting capacity, providing rigidity and resistance to impact. High power models with pre-wired quick connect systems with MC4 (PV-ST01) connectors
Good to know!
Parallel connection of panels.
In parallel connection, the current is reduced, the voltage is determined by the solar panel with the lowest voltage. Use solar panels of the same nominal voltage when connecting in parallel. You can, for example, supplement an older system with another panel regardless of wattage. Always check that the controller can handle the total power in the system.
When connected in parallel, the efficiency is lower than the solar cell. The system will not run if any panel is shaded, but the system will continue to deliver power to the panels that are being shaded by the sun. The panels can be placed at different angles.
Please note that the smaller cable size is needed to reduce the voltage in the system when connected in series. Use Victron's Energy cable calculator available on the app "Victron Toolkit" to select the correct cable dimension
Serial connection of solar panels.
When connecting in series, the system voltage, current and power is determined by the solar panel with the highest current. Therefore, it is important that solar panels in series have the same nominal current. It is possible to connect a 12V solar panel in series with a 24V solar panel as long as they have the same current.
Use an MPPT controller with advantage, the power can be up to 25-30% higher than with a PWM controller. Higher efficiency with parallel connection.
When connected in series, the system becomes sensitive to shadowing, if a panel is shadowed, charging may stop completely or partially. Do not use series connection if any panel in the system is at risk of being shaded for a longer period during the day. The panels should be in the same orientation and angle.
Take into account the total voltage (Voc) when connecting in series. The voltage on the regulator should not be exceeded, have a margin of at least 20% because the voltage increases at colder temperatures.
Use Victron's MPPT calculator when selecting a regulator.
Please note that many controllers cannot handle power from the controller before it is connected to the battery. A tip is to install a DC breaker or switch above the solar panel during the actual connection.
