Victron Lithium SuperPack Integrated BMS and Safety Switch The SuperPack batteries are extremely easy to install and require virtually no additional components, it is recommended that a relay be placed between the generator and the battery to prevent the generator from always running at maximum. The internal switch disconnects the battery in case of over-discharge, over-charge, low or high temperature. Protected against misuse A lead-acid battery will die prematurely due to sulphatization: if it is used in shortage mode for long periods of time (e.g. if the battery is rarely or never fully charged). if it is left partially charged, or worse, completely discharged. A lithium-ion battery does not need to be fully charged. In fact, operating life is improved if it is partially charged rather than fully charged. This is a major advantage of a lithium-ion battery over a lead-acid battery. The SuperPack batteries will shut off the charge or discharge current when the maximum capacities are exceeded. Efficient In several applications (especially off-grid solar and/or wind installations), energy efficiency can be crucial. The round-trip efficiency (discharge from 100% to 0% and back to 100% charge) of the average lead-acid battery is 80%. The equivalent for a lithium-ion battery is 92%. The charging process of lead-acid batteries becomes particularly inefficient once a state of charge of 80% has been reached, resulting in 50% efficiency or even less in PV systems where several days of backup energy are required (battery used in 70% to 100% charged state). In contrast, a lithium-ion battery will still achieve 90% efficiency even under shallow discharge conditions. Can be connected in parallel The batteries can be connected in parallel. Series connection is not allowed. May only be used in an upright position.
